Custom Flat Ribbon Cable Processing & Assembly Services

Your One-Stop Resource for Flat Ribbon Cable, Ribbon Cable Assemblies, IDC Termination, and Custom Cable Processing

Flat Cable Solutions, a specialized division of Agility EMS, provides custom flat ribbon cable processing, flat cable modification, and ribbon cable assembly services from our Texas manufacturing facility. We help OEMs and industrial manufacturers source everything from simple cut-to-length ribbon cable assemblies to complex custom cable assemblies with IDC connectors, discrete wire terminations, and specialized processing requirements.

Whether you need flat cable jumpers, conductor separation, tinning, stripping, notching, MTA assemblies, or complete ribbon cable termination services, our experienced team can help you find the right solution while delivering the quality, consistency, and responsiveness your project demands.

Measure and Cut

Every custom ribbon cable assembly starts with precise material preparation. Our automated flat cable processing equipment accurately measures and cuts flat ribbon cable materials to repeatable lengths while maintaining tight manufacturing tolerances.

We can process flat cable materials up to 4 inches wide and cut lengths as short as 0.5 inches. For larger or specialized custom cable assemblies, our team can also perform manual processing to meet unique application requirements.

002stripping

Stripping

Flat Cable Solutions offers both mechanical and laser stripping services for flat ribbon cable and related cable constructions. Our stripping process is carefully controlled to avoid nicking conductors while achieving consistent, repeatable results.

Whether your application requires full strip, strip-and-retain, window stripping, or precision laser ablation, we can recommend the most effective ribbon cable processing method for your design and manufacturing requirements.

003Tinning

Tinning

We process pre-bonded cable, tinned cable, and top-coated cable constructions for customers requiring enhanced conductor management during assembly and termination.

The tinning process bonds individual conductor strands together to eliminate bird-caging and improve handling during ribbon cable termination and custom cable assembly manufacturing. All tinned assemblies are hand dipped in Kester K100LD solder unless otherwise specified.

004Kinked

Standard Kinked (Staggered) Jumpers

Our standard kinked, or staggered, flat cable jumpers improve PCB retention before soldering and simplify installation during manufacturing.

Using stranded, tinned, and top-coated wire constructions, these ribbon cable jumpers provide rigid tails for reliable insertion while maintaining the same PCB hole layout as straight jumper designs. We offer jumper configurations with pitches down to 0.100 inches.

005Separate

Conductor Separation

Conductor separation is one of the most common flat cable modification services used in ribbon cable assemblies. Separating conductors allows for greater flexibility, custom routing, and preparation for connector installation or discrete wire termination.

We can separate individual conductors, pairs, quads, or custom groupings with capabilities supporting conductor pitches as small as 0.025 inches.

006notching

Notching

Flat Cable Solutions offers custom ribbon cable notching services using proprietary tooling designed specifically for flat cable processing applications.

We can provide full-reel notch configurations, cut-to-length cables with notches on one or both ends, or fully customized notch patterns required for your assembly. These modifications can simplify installation, improve cable routing, and support unique connector requirements.

Termination & Assembly Services

We provide complete ribbon cable termination and assembly services using products from leading manufacturers including TE Connectivity, AMP, Molex, JST, Samtec, 3M, Adam Tech, and others.

Our capabilities include:

  • IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) termination
  • MTA (Mass Termination Assembly) services
  • Discrete wire termination
  • Feed-through connector assemblies
  • Closed-end connectors and covers
