Product Engineer

Job Description Summary

Provide Engineering support for the production area and New Product Introduction (NPI) team.  A technical interface between Agility EMS Sales team, Customer, and the Production floor. Uphold Quality in both external and internal.  Assists with the development and design of Custom Solution products.  Responsible for the development and design of Company products, including developing and fulfilling the roadmap from design through product testing. Provide other Engineering support as needed. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage New Product Introduction (NPI) process.  35%
    1. Act as the Owner of the NPI process. Lead Teams and be accountable to meet deadlines, Product requirements and complete all necessary deliverables to both the customer and the production floor.
    2. Understand Engineering Drawings, Schematics and other documents to determine acceptance criteria, requirements and deliverables (Such as PPAP, Capability studies, FAIRs, Qualification…). 
    3. Ensure that proper technological processes are developed, implemented, maintained and documented to successfully transfer development products to Production. 
    4. Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
    5. Utilize ECO process to implement improvements to production floor quality and efficiency. 
    6. Utilize Engineering function of ERP system. Create and update bill of materials, method of manufacturing, etc.
  2. Client and Stakeholder Communication. 25%
    1. Serve as the primary point of contact for client communication related to project progress, expectations, technical questions and deliverables.
    2. Prepare and present project updates, documentation, and performance reports to both internal stakeholders and clients.
    3. Ensure customer requirements are met by coordinating with design, production, and engineering teams.
  3. Lead projects to ensure process improvements are implemented on the Production floor. 15% 
    1. Ensure production operations and work centers are designed correctly.  Improve processes as needed.
    2. Implement proper technology processes on Production floor.  Ensure they are developed, documented and maintained successfully. 
    3. Design, develop, and implement optimized manufacturing systems that reduce costs while upholding operational standards.
  4. Quality Management. 15%
    1. Develop Quality and Manufacturing documentation such as Control Plans, Gage R&R’s, Test Method Validations, and pFMEA.
    2. Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) and other teams to ensure the successful implementation of corrective actions and improvements.
    3. Collaborate with QA to ensure adherence to quality management systems and assist in ensuring compliance with ISO certification and other standards.
  5. Other duties as assigned.  10%
    1. Provide support for troubleshooting manufacturing problems.
    2. Implement equipment/process training programs for Operators.
    3. Review and approve change orders.
    4.  Other support as necessary.

Working Conditions

  1. 40+ hours per week over 5 working days.
  2. Manufacturing and Office environment.
  3. Customer visits, supplier visits / audits, and external training as needed. 

Education, Skill and Experiences

  1. 4 -year Engineering degree from an accredited university.  
  2. Experience in quality work environments such as ISO 9001 or ISO 13485.
  3. Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Power Point, and Word.
  4. CAD system experience, SolidWorks preferred.
  5. ERP/MRP system experience, Epicor preferred.
  6. Ability to multi-task, works well under deadline pressures, and live the company’s values.
