Manufacturing Engineering Technician

Job Description Summary

Ensure the company’s Manufacturing and Quality objectives are met and provide our customers with the Custom Solution products they demand. Provide leadership in the implementation and continuous improvement area of our Custom Solutions business. Fulfilling Custom Solutions products requirements from engineering transfer through product test. The production floor technical Subject Matter Expert.


  1. Production Floor Support–40%
    1. Create and Maintain work instructions, control plans and inspection documentation for our Production team.
    2. Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) process working with Sales, Engineering and Quality teams to get product launched on time. This included creation of work instructions, control plans, inspection documentation, NPI builds, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and First Article Inspection (FAI), process qualifications as necessary, and post implementations reviews as needed.
    3. Ensure customer BOM changes, ECNs are implemented and maintained.
    4. Participate in reviews of FPY and DMR’s of manufactured products to make ensure production operators are completing tasks at the highest quality level.
    5. Update documentation along with continuous improvement projects and ECNs.
  1. Develop and Continuously Improve Production Processes -30%.
    1. Identifies, executes, and promotes Continuous Improvement objectives.
    2. Lead our Red Folder(ECN)process for identification and resolution of continuous improvement ideas.
    3. Lead the resolution of Production quality issues by utilizing tools such as RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) and 6 step quality processes.
    4. Participate on the Material Review Board.
    5. Participate in the ISO annual re-certification activities
  1. Maintain and Train manufacturing equipment20%.
    1. Create and maintain PM plans for automated manufacturing equipment, utilize regional support where possible.
    2. Go-to person for equipment operation, repair, and maximize utilization where feasible.
    3. Train other employees on production and test equipment, as necessary
  1. Perform other duties as assigned –10%.
    1. Backup for Production Supervisors needed.

Working Conditions

  1. Forty plus hours per week over five working days.
  2. Production and Office environment.
  3. Customer visits, supplier visits / audits, and external training as needed.

Education, Skill and Experiences

  1. 2-year technical degree required4-yr technical degree preferred.
  2. Minimum 5+years of experience within a role with similar duties and responsibilities in a manufacturing environment, electronics assembly preferred.
  3. Continuous improvement systems such as Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, etc.
  4. ERP/MRP system experience, preferably Epicor.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with others. 
  6. Microsoft Office products such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word7.
  7. CAD (SolidWorks), preferred.
  8. Ability to multi-task and work under dead-line pressures.
